What Is Hemp Oil?


Determining between cannabis and hemp can be confusing. There are many different varietals of the plant cannabis sativa, which will have different amounts of CBD or THC. A Cannabis sativa varietal that contain more than .3% THC is called marijuana. Hemp is a variety of cannabis sativa that has less than .3% THC. They are the same species, but the difference is the amount of THC.


Hemp oil is a product that has been removed from the stalk of the hemp plant for the CBD content. There are different extraction methods for hemp oil. Hemp seed oil is the oil that has been taken from hemp seeds. Hemp seed oil doesn’t contain or only contains little amounts of CBD. It is used for its healthy fatty acid profile. This oil can be found in many forms and can be consumed orally, smoked via vaporization, or applied topically. When referring to the benefits, many are referring to the benefits of CBD in the oil.
